REPLACEMENT OF VIEWING STATIONS TRAFFIC SURFACE FOR MONTGOMERY ZOO

PROJECT NUMBER SP-7-22

Sealed bids will be received by the City of Montgomery Engineering Department located at 25 Washington Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104 (2nd floor) until March 9, 2023 @ 2pm, at which time they will be opened and publicly read aloud.

The scope of work includes removal of existing wooden decking and replacing with a bituminous traffic system. Structural shoring required of bridge where moat traverses beneath one viewing station.

The bracket of cost is $75,000 to $125,000.00. The bracket range is shown only to provide general financial information and should not be used in preparing a bid. The pre-bid meeting is scheduled March 2, 2023 @ 10:00 am on-site at the Montgomery Zoo, 2301 Coliseum Pkwy, Montgomery, AL 36110. All bidders or their representatives are required to attend the pre-bid meeting in order to submit a bid. Attendees must follow all social distancing procedures and guidelines. The City of Montgomery is required to comply with the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, § 31-13-1 et seq. of Code of Alabama 1975 (Act No. 2011-535), subsequently, all bidders are required to submit an E-Verify Affidavit stating they are enrolled in the E-Verify Program and the entire associated Memorandum of Understanding on the outside of their sealed bid proposals.

AN ACT

Relating to Montgomery County; to amend Section 45-51-231 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to an expense

allowance and salary of the sheriff, to restate the current salary of the sheriff and to delete an expired expense allowance; and to provide a new expense allowance for the sheriff and for the salary of the sheriff if the sheriff has served two or more full consecutive terms as sheriff. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. Section 45-51-231 of the Code of Alabama 1975, is amended to read as follows:

"§45-51-231

(a) The Sheriff of Montgomery County shall receive an expense allowance of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) per

year, payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county. This expense allowance shall be in addition to all other compensation or benefits granted to the sheriff and may be treated as compensation for retirement contributions.

(b) Effective beginning the next term of office, the Except as provided in Section 2 of the act adding this language, the annual salary of the Sheriff of Montgomery County shall be one hundred fifty-five thousand dollars ($155,000) and the expense allowance provided for in subsection (a) shall become null and void.

Section 2.(a)(1) Any Sheriff of Montgomery County who has served two consecutive full terms shall receive an

additional expense allowance of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) per year, payable in equal monthly installments from the general fund of the county. This expense allowance shall be in addition to all other compensation or benefits granted to the sheriff and may be treated as compensation for retirement contributions.

(2) This subsection shall be void at the end of the current term of the sheriff or on a vacancy in the office of sheriff for any reason.

(b) Effective beginning the next term of office of the Sheriff of Montgomery County, and thereafter, any sheriff who

has served two or more consecutive full terms as sheriff, shall receive an annual salary in the amount of one hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000). The salary shall be paid from the general fund of the county.

Section 3. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
